A friend of mine recently moved house and as part of the cleanup he decided that a new carpet wouldn’t do it alone. He needed new skirting boards too. He needed something to cut the correct lengths accurately along with the 45 degree joint to allow the boards to meet in the corner of the room. I advised him to look into buying a mitre saw and as niether of us had any prior knowledge I set about researching a few different saws. Here is what I found regarding the Bosch PCM 7 Compound Mitre Saw.
Features of the Bosch PCM 7 Compound Mitre Saw

The Bosch PCM 7 is able to cut both bevel and mitre increasing its versatility and usefulness for more jobs around the home. If you need to cut anything quickly and precisely you are perfectly equipped with this saw. The saw is ideal for strips, slats, boards, square timbers with a small cross-section or narrow wall panels. It also performs well when tasked with material like wide square timbers, thick beams or wide parquet panels.
The more watts the better?
The first thing I noticed about the saw is that it comes with a powerful 1100 watt motor. A powerful motor is essential when choosing your saw as it allows it to tackle tougher jobs and 1100 fits into that bracket nicely. This means that not only will he be able to cut skirting board he can use it around the house for other jobs. Excellent!
Getting to grips with it!
The saw also comes with a soft grip style handle. As this is the point of contact between you and the saw it is an important feature in my opinion. As working with power tools can be dangerous it is crucial to stay in control of the saw at all times. This grip allows you to do just that whilst remaining comfortable during prolonged use.
Keep it clean…
Featuring a no-load speed maximum of 4800 revolutions per minute the saw will provide a clean, razor sharp cut at all times.
How do I know where I am cutting?
When the saw is in an open position it is difficult to tell where the teeth are actually going to make contact. The Bosch PCM 7 features a laser that quickly shows you exactly where the cut will be made and allows for fine adjustments to be made quickly. This is brilliant as when I have done work in the past I have been slightly out with measurements or cuts and had to waste materials as a result.
In addition the saw is very compact & lightweight at only 8kg making it simple to move around and store. There is a dust bag attachment which is great for reducing the amount of mess but better still is the option to connect the saw to your hoover using the dust extraction port. This significantly reduces the mess made when cutting meaning less time spent cleaning up after yourself!
Keep on cutting!
The saw comes equipped with TCT blades (Tungsten Carbide-Tipped) for durability. This means that each tooth on the cutting edge is tipped with a carbide material to increase strength prevent dulling of the sharp edge. This typically means that the saw will remain sharp for between 10 & 20 times longer than a standard blade.
Does it come with a warranty?
The Bosch PCM 7 Compound Mitre Saw comes with a 2 years manufacturer warranty giving you peace of mind with your purchase. Given the build quality of this tool it is not likely you will need to use the warranty but its there nevertheless.
